Access made easy

Travel between Googong and Canberra or Queanbeyan will be easy and safe, thanks to a significant upgrade to the main access roads.

As part of CIC’s and the Queanbeyan City Council’s commitment to the development of Googong, Edwin Land Parkway is being extended from Jerrabomberra through to Old Cooma Road. This will provide Googong residents with convenient access to the Monaro Highway, putting you within easy reach of Tuggeranong, Woden and Canberra City. This road is already well underway, and scheduled for completion in mid 2012. The ACT Government is in the process of duplicating the Monaro Highway through Fyshwick, which will make travel to the city even easier. You can find more information about the extension to the Edwin Land Parkway on the Queanbeyan City Council’s website here.

There will also be significant roadworks in Old Cooma Road, widening and straightening this access road into Queanbeyan. The winding part of Old Cooma Road will be by-passed by a new, much more direct and safer route. Stage 1 of these roadworks should commence later this year (2012). To find out more about the Old Cooma Road improvements, go to this page on the Queanbeyan City Council’s website.
