Club Googong will have a gym, pool and kids splash deck free for residents.

Social Sustainability

A diverse range of housing, home businesses and other employment opportunities will facilitate a socially diverse population which will also be served by schools and child care centres.

We have a Community Plan which sets out the community facilities that will support the township. These include the Club Googong facilities, along with parks, playgrounds, a pool, sports grounds, and walking and cycle trails. There will be a library in the Town Centre and a fire station to serve the town and the region.

We will also be appointing a community development officer to help our new residents form social networks. There will be social events to help new neighbours meet each other and, as the township grows, activities like playgroups and special interest groups will be encouraged.  We want to ensure that all new residents are welcomed and become active members of the Googong community.

Schools provide an important focus for community building. We are talking with the NSW Department of Education about providing two public school sites within the Googong township. The Anglican Church has confirmed that it will build an accessible, co-educational, low fee and open entry primary school at Googong in time for the 2015 school year. The Church will also develop a number of community-based organisations in the region.
