Googong Common
Respect for ecological and environmental values is a key component of Googong Common, a large parkland meandering through the township which will be the “green lungs” of Googong.
It will be accessible from all the neighbourhoods and will combine recreational, environmental and cultural uses including sports grounds, adventure play space, pedestrian and cycle trails.
23% of Googong will be dedicated to parklands and open space, including Googong Common. This totals 183 hectares - which is just 6 hectares less than Centennial Park in Sydney. A key element of Googong Common will be an ecologically restored chain of ponds. Native bushland within the Montgomery Creek area will be regenerated using planting propagated from local species.
