Introducing Googong

Road Improvements

Access made easy

Travel between Googong and Canberra or Queanbeyan nowadays is easier and safer than ever before thanks to significant improvements that have already been completed, or are ready to be undertaken, to the main access roads.

A 2.3 kilometre section of Edwin Land Parkway was opened in July 2012, marking a major infrastructure milestone for Googong. This section of road links the Monaro Highway to Old Cooma Road via Jerrabomberra, and puts Googong residents within easy reach of Tuggeranong, Woden and Canberra City.

The Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council (QPRC) is set to begin construction of an extension to Ellerton Drive to link up with the new Edwin Land Parkway intersection at Old Cooma Road. The extension – which will allow heavy vehicles and other traffic to by-pass the Queanbeyan CBD – is due to begin construction in late 2017. Further information is available on the QPRC's website, here.

Significant road improvements have been completed on Old Cooma Road, widening and straightening this access road into Queanbeyan and more improvements are planned as the entrance to Googong is finalised
